Cyndy Fujikawa

Cyndy Fujikawa has worked as a film, television and theatre professional for the past 35 years. She has worked throughout the country and Europe as a finance manager, production accountant, production controller and producer on feature films, TV shows, pilots and documentaries. In theatre, Cyndy has performed, written and directed with East West Players, San Jose Repertory Theatre, A Contemporary Theatre (Seattle), Sacramento Theatre Co, Mabou Mines, New York Theatre Workshop, New Victory Theater (NYC), and Cornerstone Theatre Co. In the 1980’s she co-founded the award-winning Encore Theatre Company in San Francisco, and produced/collaborated on its first five seasons.

In 1998, Cyndy teamed up with Emmy award-winning director Allan Holzman and adapted her one person performance, OLD MAN RIVER, into a feature-length documentary feature. This film version was exhibited in cultural institutions and film festivals throughout the country, where it picked up six festival awards and, later, the American Cinema Editor’s Award for Best Edited Documentary. In 2005 she was commissioned to adapt the cherished memoir “Farewell to Manzanar” for Cornerstone Theatre Company under artistic director Bill Rauch. She is the daughter of stage and screen actor Jerry Fujikawa and she descends from four generations of vaudeville entertainers on her mother’s side.
