Center-Based Program
Plaza Community Services, Early Childhood Education Program provides high quality early education and childcare services throughout the area of East Los Angeles. Plaza services children from 6 weeks old to kindergarten age, with strategies that help them develop their emotional, social and cognitive skills needed to become lifelong learners. Each of our center locations have qualified teaching staff, health, nutrition, early education and social services programs that provide for the basic needs of young children to promote their optimum growth and development Activities for the children in our center-based programs are based on our Creative Curriculum that is research-based curriculum that nurtures the unique needs of a child. The Creative Curriculum helps teachers interact with children in ways to promote development and learning, foster children’s social competence, support children’s learning through play, and creative rich environments for learning. The program provides:
- A balance of indoor and outdoor activities each day
- Children are encouraged to participate activities that will enhance their learning.
- A balance of teacher-initiated and child-initiated activities
Our centers are active participants of Quality Start LA Program. Quality Start Los Angeles (QSLA) is Los Angeles’ countywide Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) designed to empower early learning providers to build upon and improve the quality of care they provide to children birth to five. We do this by supporting the professionals from licensed childcare centers through professional development, specialized trainings, individualized coaching, and access to innovative resources and funding opportunities. By collaborating with professionals from licensed childcare centers, we are coming together to ensure all children receive a quality start in life.
CACFP Nutrition Program Information:
Plaza participates in the Child and Adult Food Care Program (CACFP). Parent Brochure: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/Portals/13/CACFP/Family%20Brochure%204-24.pdf?ver=2024-08-28-130826-160
Our nutrition staff prepares food on-site and brings balanced meals to each classroom for every meal service. Meals are served “family style” to all children at our centers. This type of meal service allows children to eat without pressure, practice their social, language, and fine motor skills, and develop healthy eating habits. As part of Plaza’s mission to support children’s health and education, our nutrition staff ensures every child’s nutritional needs are met and that compliance with CACFP requirements and standards is maintained.
To ensure Plaza can provide nutritious meals to all enrolled students, parents or guardians must complete meal application forms each year in October.
For more information about our nutrition services, please contact the CACFP Specialist.
